A celebration of Dexys Midnight Runners:
On 17 July 2010 there will be a gathering in Birmingham at The Flapper, Kingston Row, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of 'Searching for the young soul rebels'.
Original band members will be in conversation with Gavin Martin (Talking Musical Revolutions). Gavin is a former writer and film critic at the NME and is now Daily Mirrors music editor.
Joining Gavin on stage will be Dexys photographer Mike Laye who will be displaying images from that period, and Anthony O'Shaughnessy, the man with the suitcase on the front cover of the album 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels', his remarkable story will be told for the very first time.
Also on stage, reading a piece about Dexys especially written for the event, will be Paolo Hewitt. Paolo is a music journalist and author with 'Paul Weller, The Changing Man', 'The Jam: A Beat Concerto' and 'The Soul Stylists: Six Decades of Modernism, from Mods to Casuals' just a few of Paolo's published and critically acclaimed releases.
Live music will be provided by Stone Foundation and 'very special guests'. The band will be performing songs which were inspired by Dexys debut album as well as selected covers.
Tickets available via seetickets.
