Hey!

I'm not too sure what's done to promote this forum, or who runs it etc, but I wondered if there is anything I could do to help promote the forum at all?

Running my own promotions firm and small indie record label meant I looked for a forum from somewhere around the Midlands and after spending literally weeks looking for one, I pretty much gave in. Now if someone actually looks for a 'Birmingham Music Forum' and still can't find this place then maybe theres a bit of a problem?

Is there any kind of business cards, MySpace, FaceBook, active SEO, twitter - anything like this? Happy to spend a few hours here and there helping if it means can drag a few more people onto the forum?

If there is something like an ink stamp with a web address on or something like that then happy to stamp the back of all my business cards with it so that all the musicians / press etc that get one could also find out about this forum?

Hi Dave,

Many thanks for your valued post and suggestions.
I am an Administrator on this site,
but not being the owner, do not have the right
to independantly set up other sites, as promotion.

I considered MySpace as the best option, and now that they also
have a twitter type activity section, it is still the best bet.

I find twitter, a complete waste of time,
and only time will tell if it actually benefits anyone!!

However, those are my personal thoughts,
and it would ultimately be the owner's descision.

I agree, about attempting to find us,
as we are not advertised as a general music forum.

Anything that you wish to do 'off your own back'
to promote this forum, would indeed be appreciated.

My fellow Admin, will hopefully pick up on this post,
and make their replies

Hey!

Twitter has been amazing for me, 28% of my website traffic for the promotions business, and 37% for the record label comes from Twitter - so been a brilliant tool. Most poeple find it useless when they have just 'followed' anyone, if users spend time actually searching for musicians then people would start to find out about the forum. I was a mod of a business forum before my work started to grow running my own business so had to give it up, and we pulled in a good number of new members from posts on Twitter.

MySpace to be honest is good for music and bands and Facebook is good for networking. But I believe a combination of lots is better, its about building a web presence :)

When I was looking for a music forum I wasn't looking for a general music forum, but a music industry forum, for artists and labels and promoters etc, but still couldn't find this one - so even though I was being about as specific as I possibly could, nothing seemed to pop up on search engines :(

Hello all, that sounds a good idea about Twitter, I am wating on the site owner to decide on the new forum which will be bulletin, if this goes ahead I will definitely add meta tags and promote the site for the industry side of things too as I think that could be very rewarding for all members and a good point raise :)

watch this space...

Temi... any news on the new forum mate?
