Hi everyone, I love writing songs and I have various songs of different genres....How do I get hold of producers to publish my songs and most important how do I approach them. I do need the contact details of many of them so that I can approach them at large. I know that this is not easy …but I do have confidence in my lyrics and know that they have a chance.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

Hi gertine,
First of all
WELCOME to the forum,
and please feel free to take a look around.
In answer to your question, some things never change.
You need to get yourself around the record companies.
Get some appointments booked, have your best songs recorded,
so that you have appropriate demos.
Also get yourself on MySpace, and upload your original songs on there,
you'll be suprised, who's looking around,
and I speak from personal experience.
Also, if you are a local musician put your profile on here,

I would say posting an ad here is a good start, why not do as Keith says, record some rough demos to myspace and that would be a good start, it's free.

If you want to make it as a songwriter (i.e. not performing your own songs), another back door method might be to send your song ideas to a few famous but fading musicians (singers who have had their day but could still quite easily make a come back or are still releasing albums for their old die hard fans). There's a guy that works the clubs around my area that also writes for Bonnie Tyler. I'm pretty sure he does well out of it even though the songs aren't hitting the charts or anything.
Also, as stereo junkie said, adding your profile to the likes of myspace, bebo, fixagig etc... won't do you any harm. You need to get your name and music around as much as possible. I would have thought, you are more likely to be picked up if you are already popular in some way.
