I would have to choose a band from each era :)

60's is so hard becasue of so many talented musicians... I REALLY have a soft spot for Traffic, I rate Stevie Winwoods as one of the best male soulfull singers ever, he was great on the keys as well, I also love Dave Mason's voice and both their song writing abilities.

70's could be Steel Pulse for me or possibly the Beat.

80's mmm.. I know some people find em cheesy but I still love Duran Duran, they were/are a very credible pop band.

90's Ocean Colour scene and Dodgy were probably on a par for me.

and one of the best bands to make it big recentkly have to be Mistys Big Adventure.

So many other bands and musicians fit in between that though, it's a really hard question (not just Brum bands) but one that I often like to ponder :)
